Lions Drop Two to Morris

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC baseball team was defeated in two games by County College of Morris on Sunday. Game one ended with an 11-7 final score and game two ended 11-4. 

In game one, RVCC was trailing 6-2 when they put five runs up in the bottom of the third inning. Freshman catcher Jostan Tejada got the Lion bats going with an RBI single. Two batters later, Tejeda scored on a balk. Freshman infielder Kendrick Morales tied the game up with an RBI single, and freshman outfielder Adalberto Colon Jr. knocked two runs in with an RBI double. The Lions were unable to hold onto the lead, and generate any more offense. 

Morales led the way as he went 2-3 with a double and an RBI, while freshman outfielder Jack Peterson went 2-4 with a triple and an RBI. Colon Jr went 1-3 with a double and an RBI, and Tejeda 1-2 with an RBI. Colon Jr. was the losing pitcher, as he pitched three innings and allowed four runs, two earned runs, and only two hits. 

In game two, the Lions totalled four runs on nine hits. Morales knocked in Peterson in the bottom of the first inning with an RBI single. In the bottom of the second, freshman infielder Esterlin Ayala knocked a run in with a sacrifice fly. Morales finished 2-3 with an RBI, while Colon Jr. went 2-3. Sophomore outfielder Carlos Gomez went 1-4 with a double. The losing pitcher was freshman Luis Cruz, as he went five innings and allowed five earned runs while striking out five. 

Next up for RVCC is a home doubleheader against Monroe College on Tuesday, April 11th at 2:00pm.
