RVCC Baseball Tops Montgomery in Home Opener

North Branch, NJ-- The RVCC baseball team won their home opener against Montgomery County Community College on Wednesday by a final score of 13-1. The Lions struck first in the bottom of the second inning when Kendrick Morales hit a three run shot over the center field fence. Morales, a freshman infielder knocked in another run in the bottom of the fourth inning to extend the lead to 4-0. Freshman outfielder Jack Peterson made it 5-0 Lions with a RBI base knock in the bottom of the 5th, then proceeded to score on a wild pitch. The Lions were able to knock in five more runs in the bottom of the eighth, and Morales topped it off with a base clearing three RBI double.

Freshman pitcher Adalberto Colon Jr. got the win in his first collegiate start, as he went 6.1 scoreless innings and allowed one hit while striking out five. Morales finished the day with an impressive 9RBIs, as he went 4-4 from the plate with a home run and a double. Peterson went 2-4 from the plate with a double, while freshman outfielder Trevor Sanchez went 1-2 with a double, RBI and three walks. 

With the win the Lions are now 1-3, and next up they will face Bucks County Community College on Saturday, April 1st at 12pm.
