Golden Lions Split a Pair

The RVCC baseball team split a doubleheader against Rowan College at Burlington County Sunday. The first game was taken by RCBC by a score of 16-6, and the second was won by RVCC by a final score of 7-5. In game one, freshman outfielder Nick Cuba went 3-4 and picked up two RBIs, and freshman outfielder Rikki Goodman went 2-4 while picking up an RBI.

In Game two, the Golden Lions found themselves trailing 5-4 at the start of the bottom of the sixth inning, yet rallied for three runs to take the 7-5 lead. Sophomore outfielder Eric Drzewiecki singled in sophomore shortstop CJ Lyons to cut it to 6-5. Next at bat sophomore catcher Mike Dolan drove in Cuba and Drzewiecki to give RVCC the 7-5 lead. Dolan went 3-4 on the game with three RBIs, and sophomore third baseman Kyle Dotey went 2-3 and hit a two run home run in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman Tommy Sharfetz earned the victory and pitched well , going 5.2 innings and only allowing three earned runs. Dotey came on in the seventh innning and shut RCBC down to earn his first save of the season. 

Next up is a home doubleheader Tuesday the 12th against Union County College at 2pm.
