Rick’Keem Mixson has been named Region XIX DII Basketball Player of the Year for the second time in his career and is the first RV athlete ever to be named Player of Year for both his freshman and sophomore seasons.
This season Rick averaged 23 points. 9.5 rebounds and 7 assists per game and finishes his career just shy of 1200 points. He ranks top 5 nationally in points per game and assists per game.
In the Region XIX Semi-Final matchup vs Manor, Rick scored 28 points. His well balance attack of 13 points on the floor and 15 points at the free throw line solidified the win for the Lions and helped the team advance to the Championship Game versus Essex.
Rick continued his offensive barrage in the Region XIX DII Championship Game vs. Essex scoring 25 of his 33 points in the 1st half. His free throw percentage over the weekend was 84%
